It actually becomes a plot point in both of there respective routes, where protagonist Yuuji tries to correct this habit of theirs. Apologises a Lot: Yumiko and Amane tends to do this.All Women Are Lustful: Yuuji is apparently surrounded by rather lusty women.Sooner or later, you'll come across people who love you and accept you for who you are. Yumiko and Makina's story have the overall message that even if your blood family doesn't care for you, don't lose hope.Otherwise, it will only lead to ruin for you. Instead, hers is to rely on others willing to help if you can't deal with the situation by yourself in order to solve it. Irisu Makina has a different aesop than the other girls.Doing it all by yourself is something you could spend your whole life on and still not succeed. A little help is good, but in the end it's up to the person with the problem to help themselves truly deal with their issues. People don't save each other People save themselves. There's also a firm message delivered by Yuuji.While it gave her a very strong sense of right and wrong, it crippled her capacity to open up towards others. Yumiko becomes cynical and aloof to endure how her family effectively treated her like just property all her life.This lead to her becoming much more outgoing and caring for others, but left her with extremely low self-worth. Amane tries to be everyone's caretaker and big sister - especially Yuuji's - to make up for feeling like she failed to protect Yuuji's sister Kazuki.
This let her function as a living person again, but it severely stunted her emotional growth. Makina mentally regressed in order to cope with the trauma her photographic memory witnessed, seeming to feel being deliberately dense or unserious helped her see any good in the world again.Sachi obsessively obeys all orders because she perceives herself to be selfish and terrible but while this helped overcome her PTSD temporarily it did lead her to attempt to burn down her school when asked to stop the exams.It's no longer really healthy for her, but at the time she started doing it, it was absolutely critical. Michiru acts the clown since otherwise she feels entirely worthless.Maybe they will be wrong in the long term, but do what you can when you have to. The story carries an underlying message that whatever helps you get through things is probably okay, even if they seem wrong.Adults Are Useless: The six main character of Mihama Academy all sport painfull pasts, and most of it is caused by adults, most specifically parents failing to do their jobs properly, and given how most of them behave throughout the novel they don't fair much better in the present.
